FLAGFORT

Build by day. Hold by night. Never let your flag fall.

The forest gives you sixty seconds.

Gather what you can. Build walls, traps, turrets, and harvesters. Upgrade your defenses before the portals open...because when night falls, the horde is coming for your flag.

Survive until dawn, choose your upgrades, and prepare for the next wave.

How to Play:

By day: Harvest wood, stone, gold, and diamonds.

Build: Create and upgrade a defense that can survive the night.

By night: Fight alongside your structures while waves pour through the portals.

At dawn: Choose new unlocks and upgrades, but along with an enemy mutation

Hold the flag: Survive ten nights and defeat the boss

Flagfall is designed for desktop browsers. The in-game tutorial covers movement, harvesting, building, repairing, and combat.

For the best experience, play in fullscreen with sound enabled.

How many nights can your flag survive?

Optional Challenges:

Want a rougher night? Impossible mode not impossible enough? Stack optional challenges to create your own nightmare:

  • Shorter days
  • Scarcer resources
  • More expensive construction
  • Fragile defenses
  • Stronger and faster hordes
  • More portals
  • No repairs
  • No healing

Every run can use a custom seed, so you can retry the same forest or challenge someone else to survive it.

More About the Game's Development

I'm a Software Engineering and since I've been doing some website designing recently I decided to challenge myself for this game jam and build the game using JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS, and SVG images ONLY.

Usually people will use a game engine (I personally really like Godot), and then export to an HTML build which is cool and smart to do. But I thought I'd give building it completely raw a go, and oh boy was that wild! I learned a ton though, and honestly having more experience with dynamic interactions gives me a lot of cool ideas for future website effects.

I also grew up playing all the usual .io games and I've always wanted to make one in the style of those games I grew up playing with simple graphics, a solid core gameloop, and endless replayability and it was an absolute blast. Bucket list item checked!

Hope you enjoy! Feel free to leave a comment to let me know about your experience playing FlagFall :)
